Writ of Love by Cassidy Crane is a delightful age-gap workplace romance.
Kelly Lattimore aspires to use her legal expertise to assist those in need, but the harsh realities of life push her into the exhausting world of Big Law. After the surprise of discovering her one-night stand is now her boss, she’s more determined than ever to succeed—and perhaps finally earn her family’s pride.
Jillian Briggs, a high-powered attorney as fierce as she is stunning, has no interest in-office romance. Still reeling from her divorce, she throws herself into work and casual flings. Mixing the two was never part of her plan, but when Kelly appears as her new associate after their night of passion, Jillian’s meticulously controlled life is suddenly upended.
Despite their best efforts, Kelly and Jillian can’t resist the pull between them. While they’re committed to keeping things strictly physical, the more time they share, the more difficult it becomes to deny their growing feelings.
Writing
Writ of Love is a sizzling legal office romance with little angst. It’s a quick, engaging read that offers just enough character development and detail to satisfy, though a few plotlines could have used more depth. The Big Law backdrop serves to strengthen the bond between Jillian and Kelly, while the dialogue remains natural and believable throughout.
Pros And My Favourite Parts
Jillian is a determined, career-focused woman whose marriage has fallen apart. Though she’s moved past the heartbreak, it still lingers. Firm in her independence, she’s not looking for another relationship. Meanwhile, Kelly, a newly hired associate at a major law firm, is grappling with student loan debt and feelings of inadequacy. When the two women cross paths, Jillian is only interested in a one-night encounter, while Kelly is eager to explore her sexuality. However, fate brings them together at work, and despite their efforts to keep things professional, their undeniable chemistry has other plans. The steamy scenes are a standout, further fueling their developing “relationship”.
As their relationship deepens, readers are given insights into both women’s pasts, revealing the experiences that have shaped who they are. I appreciated these glimpses, as they helped me connect with the characters on a deeper level and made it easy to root for them. I also enjoyed watching their dynamic evolve as they grew more comfortable with one another. The humor and sarcasm were much appreciated. And Bob, the orange tabby, was perfect, revealing that beneath Jillian’s stoic exterior lies a soft-hearted, caring soul.

The Conclusion
Writ of Love is a steamy age-gap workplace romance, brimming with passion and free from heavy drama and angst. It delves into themes of embracing change, opening up to others, and leaning into vulnerability while highlighting the importance of honesty and trust. The main characters are exceptionally likable, with subtle yet powerful arcs that leave a lasting impression. I found it hard to put down, as the story was utterly engrossing.
Excerpt from Writ of Love by Cassidy Crane
There was a timid knock in her doorway, and she looked up.
Oh God, it was Eleanor. What the fuck was she doing here? She’d seemed totally fine when she’d left last night, but was she turning out to be a crazy stalker? Jillian reached for her phone to tell Ezra to have security on standby when she noticed the staff badge pinned to Eleanor’s lapel with Kelly Lattimore in big letters.
She was staring at Jillian from the doorway, her hazel eyes huge. Jillian remembered Eleanor saying she was starting a new job today and noticed the little scarf she had tied around her neck covering the hickey Jillian had left. What a great fucking joke the universe was playing on her. So much for never seeing Eleanor—no, Kelly—again. They’d be spending every day of the next two weeks together.
Blood was thundering in her ears. It took every ounce of self-control she possessed, but Jillian was pretty sure she managed a neutral smile. “Well, hello. This is quite unexpected.”
“Um. Uh. Um. Hi?” Kelly said, still looking like a deer in headlights.
“Come in, have a seat. Shut the door behind you. We need to talk,” Jillian said, gesturing to the seat opposite her desk.
